HOW IT ALL BEGAN
CARLA EILERS — “The Zen Lady”
Owner, Zen House Yoga | 500-Hour RYT
Carla Eilers—affectionately known as “The Zen Lady”—first discovered yoga in 2003 when a coworker invited her to a lunchtime class. What began as a simple introduction quickly grew into a meaningful, grounding practice that has supported her life for more than two decades.
She began teaching in 2012 after completing PiYo and YogaFit certifications, later earning her 200-hour training through Body & Soul in Dubuque, Iowa, and a 300-hour Advanced Yoga Psychology Teacher Training in 2021. Over the years she has taught a variety of styles but now specializes in gentle, breath-centered classes designed to help students slow down, release stress, and reconnect with themselves.
Why I Teach
Carla is passionate about making yoga accessible to everyone—especially beginners—and promoting the powerful benefits of a consistent yoga practice for overall health and well-being. She believes yoga is for every body, every age, and every season of life. Creating a warm, supportive space where students can grow, heal, and feel empowered is what inspires her every day.
Zen House Yoga Studio
Zen House Yoga began in Carla’s own home, where serene nature views and the warmth of a welcoming space inspired students to slow down and connect.
Located just outside Anamosa, the studio serves students from Monticello, Mount Vernon, Marion, and surrounding areas. The scenic country setting offers a retreat-like atmosphere, with gardens, wildflowers, and woodlands providing a calming backdrop for practice. When the weather allows, Carla leads classes on the patio, letting students enjoy yoga outdoors.
Zen House Yoga classes are offered not only on-site but throughout the greater eastern Iowa community. Carla is passionate about making yoga accessible to everyone, offering virtual classes, private sessions, and community outreach programs that include:
